2000 Landrover Discovery II Overview VIN: SALTY1247YA267629 Carfax: The carfax is clear, and it even shows dealer service records! I am selling my 2000 Land Rover Discovery Series II. It is loaded with features like Active Cornering Enhancement (ACE), 4 wheel drive, dual climate control, dual sunroofs, six-cd changer, heated leather seating, suede and leather accents with wood trim throughout the car, foglights and Hella off-road foglights, a genuine Landrover rhino-guard bolted into the frame, and much more. The best part about this car is that EVERYTHING WORKS. This Discovery II is reliable and well maintained, and it has NEVER been repainted, mistreated, off-roaded, or crashed. It has been mostly driven on the freeway as a commuter vehicle, and there has rarely been more than one person in the car at any time. The car comes with a spare tire, tools, and leather bound owner's manual. Everything works exactly as it should, and if the car is maintained well it will give the next owner years and years of trouble-free service. Features This car is fully loaded with just about every feature available, and this sets this Discovery II apart from others: 1. Performance Package ($3,000) This adds ACE and 18 Inch Sports Wheels with better tires. ACE (Active Cornering Enhancement) - This feature is amazing, and it keeps the car flat and level to improve traction and prevent rollover by pumping up the side of the car that is leaning during turns. For example, when you make a right turn the ACE pumps up the left side of the car to keep it from leaning over. I have a BMW 328i, and this Landrover Discovery feels flatter when turning than the 3-series does. It is seriously noticeable too, as I have driven Discovery II's without ACE and they don't feel as stable. 18" Wheels - These wheels make the car look far more dignified than the dinky small wheels that come with most Land Rovers. Moreover, the lower profile tires and bigger wheels help the vehicle handle better. Hill Descent Control - If you are coming down a steep hill, push a button and the Discovery keeps the car from speeding down the hill too quickly. 2. Winter Package - This package adds a heated windshield and heated seats. Heated Windshield - there are hair thin wires running throughout the front windshield that heat up and quickly defrost the front windshield of the car. Heated Seats - These work wonders in cold weather. Heated Power Mirrors - This defrosts the side mirrors and even melts snow off of them 3. Four Wheel Electronic Traction Control System - This keeps the wheels from losing grip, and keep you out of harm's way. 4. Leather and Suede Package ($2,000) - The seats are leather, and the door sills and many other parts of the car are covered with Suede and leather. This makes the car feel very soft and luxurious, and it also smells rich inside. 5. 12 Speaker Harmon Kardon Premium Sound System - There are small round speakers in the doors, and a rectangular subwoofer in the rear door. The sound system sounds amazing in this car, and there is a 6-cd changer under the front seat that works perfectly. 6. Dual Sunroofs - Two sunroofs tilt and slide open. There are also two sun-shades for each sunroof (one for the driver, one for the passenger). 7. Genuine Land Rover Rhino Bars - this gives the Discovery a distinct look, especially with the two Hella Fog lights mounted on them. The Rhino Guard was made to protect the engine from damage in case animals wander into the path of the Discovery on dirt roads, but in the city they just keep your bumpers from getting scratched by bad parkers. The car also has a tow-hitch, 8-way power front seats, a fold away headrest for the center seat to enhance rear visibility, and I am sure many more features I have not listed. Rest assured, the car is far more loaded with features than most Land Rover Discovery II's out there. Mechanical shape The car is in excellent mechanical shape. Everything works exactly as it should, and the car does not need any work done. The suspension and Active Cornering Enhancement (ACE) are in perfect shape - not bouncy or defective in any way. The engine is in perfect shape - the oil is clear and grit-free, and there are no odd noises or indications of malfunction. The car does not burn or leak oil or any other fluids. It has had a recent synthetic oil change, and you will not have to change the oil for another 1,000 miles. The car never overheats, the cooling system works, A/C works beautifully. The power windows roll up and down smoothly, and the sunroofs open and shut without any issue. The Landrover tracks straight, so there are no alignment problems. When you let go of the steering wheel, the car drives straight and there is NO shaking of the steering wheel. The brakes are in great shape. Tires are newer, so you will not have to worry about having to change the tires for a long time as well. Also, the tires have even wear, and this further emphasizes the perfect alignment and suspension. The car is just about perfect, and I am sure you will be delighted when you drive it. Maintenance The Land Rover has been incredibly well maintained - you can actually see the dealer service records when you look up the carfax report, as it has been dealer serviced. Most recently, the air conditioner was recharged, and the oil has been changed less than 1,000 miles ago with full synthetic. The next bit of maintenance it will need is an oil change in 2,000 miles. As long as you change the oil, this car should continue to run without any issues for years and years. Interior The interior is absolutely gorgeous, and it is in excellent shape. There is leather, suede, and wood everywhere. It actually smells of rich, buttery leather and suede, so it is a very pleasant place to spend time driving. The driver and passenger each get an individual arm-rest, and the rear center seat extends and contracts from an armrest with no headrest to a full seat with an armrest. The leather has been cleaned and conditioned, and there are no rips or tears in the seats. The car is full of storage spaces to put your things in. There are many rubberized surfaces to put your things on so that they do not slide off. There are cabinets to the left and right of the enormous trunk, and there are mesh and leather pockets and compartments behind seats, overhead, and near the rear sunroofs. There is certainly no shortage of space or storage in this car. The heated seats work quickly and effectively, as does the dual-climate control. You just set the temperature, and the car controls how fast or slow the fans run - leaving you free to focus on driving. The stereo system works perfectly, and the controls behind the steering wheel are placed perfectly for easy access. My BMW's radio controls are located on the steering wheel next to the horn, and it is not as easy to use them as the Land Rover's controls. Overall, the interior looks great, is fully functional, and is in excellent condition. It is a joy to be in this car. How it Drives The car starts right up, and drives exactly as it should. There are no warning lights on the dash. The transmission shifts smoothly, the ride is smooth, and there are no noises or problems at all. The car accellerates well, and it tracks straight - so you can let go of the steering wheel and the car will continue driving in a straight line. The suspension absorbs bumps well, and the ACE (Active Cornering Enhancement) keeps the car from leaning or tipping over. The car is not like most SUV's where you take a turn and the SUV leans. For example, when you take a right turn in the Land Rover and all of the weight is shifted to the left side, the ACE pumps up the left side of the car. So instead of the car leaning, you stay nice and even. This makes for better handling in an emergency situation, should one arise. I might be giong on a bit too much about the ACE, but I am genuinely fascinated by how well this SUV handles. The ACE is truly a remarkable and ingenius feature. It makes the SUV feel more like a luxury sedan than an SUV. Overall, the car runs beautifully and it is a pleasure to drive. I have driven other Land Rover Discovery II's and Range Rovers, and when they don't have all of the packages that my Discovery has the ride feels cheap and truck-like to me since I am used to this one. I feel that the Active Cornering, Winter, Luxury, and Sports Packages set my Discovery apart. Imperfections There is one little dent on the front driver's side tip of the bumper, but this dent is hidden by the Rhino-guard so it is barely noticeable. Payment The buyer is responsible for picking up the car and paying for it in full, in cash. I know this is a big purchase, so my terms are very forgiving. I require a $100 deposit through PayPal at the end of the auction. If you decide not to buy the car, I will keep the $100 to relist the car and I will leave positive feedback for following procedure. I am sure you will love the car though, and If you do decide to purchase it you must pay in full in cash. If you are flying in, I can pick you up at either airport in Chicago. Conclusion This is a wonderful SUV. It is safe, quiet, luxurious, low maintenance, very reliable, and very well taken care of. It has never been in an accident. My reason for selling it is that it is my mother's car, and she has barely driven it. In the year that she has owned the car she put maybe 2 or 3 thousand miles on the car, so I end up changing the oil every 3 months even though the mileage has not increased. She prefers her station wagon, so I might as well sell this fantastic SUV. It looks great, and I am sure the next owner will have years of trouble-free driving.
